I became extremely fed up with the rat race and this had a knock on effect on my painting. I was exhausted all the time and felt like I was failing at the kind of art I was making too. I knew I had to push myself and really get back to the type of Painting that meant something to me, so I thought about how I painted and drew as a child. I really challenged my use of colour, texture and took out the frustrations by exploring childlike primal painting again. I really wanted to focus on creating without the focus on whether or not the end image would have a positive aesthetic or be commercially viable. I've called this the 'Lego Collection' purely because the colours used remind me of this childhood favourite.
